Peer Review Proses

1. Initial Desk Review

Upon submission, the Managing Editor conducts an initial screening of the manuscript. The criteria at this stage include:

  • Scope Fit: Does the article align with social sciences, education, or related pedagogical practices?
  • Plagiarism Check: Manuscripts are screened using Turnitin or iThenticate. A similarity index above 20% may result in rejection or revision prior to review.
  • Formatting Compliance: Does the manuscript follow the Tinombala template and APA 7th edition referencing style?
  • Basic Quality: Is the academic language clear, and is the research design methodologically sound?

2. Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the desk review are assigned to at least two (2) independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area.

  • Double-Blind Review: The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the process.
  • Reviewer Assignment: Reviewers are selected based on alignment with the manuscript’s focus (e.g., social sciences, language and literacy, or educational practice).
  • Review Timeline: Reviewers are typically given 2–4 weeks to complete their evaluation.

3. Reviewer Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers assess the manuscript using a standardized evaluation framework, including:

  • Originality and Contribution: Does the study offer new insights into social sciences or education?
  • Methodological Rigor: Are the research design, data collection, and analysis appropriate and robust?
  • Literature Engagement: Is the study grounded in recent and relevant scholarly work?
  • Clarity and Coherence: Is the argument logically structured and clearly presented?
  • Scholarly Relevance: Does the study contribute meaningfully to educational practice or social understanding?

4. Editorial Decision

Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief makes one of the following decisions:

  • Accept Submission: The manuscript is accepted without revision.
  • Minor Revision: The manuscript requires small improvements (e.g., clarity, references).
  • Major Revision (Resubmit for Review): Substantial revisions are required, followed by a second round of peer review.
  • Reject Submission: The manuscript is declined due to significant methodological or conceptual limitations.

5. Final Revision and Production

If revisions are requested, authors must submit:

  • A revised manuscript, and
  • A detailed Response to Reviewers document outlining how each comment has been addressed.

The Editor verifies revisions before the manuscript proceeds to copyediting, layout, and final publication.
