Author Guidelines
Thank you for choosing Tinombala: Journal of Social Sciences and Arts Education. To ensure a smooth review process, please follow these instructions carefully. Manuscripts that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned for technical correction before undergoing peer review.
1. Submission Preparation Checklist
Before submitting, authors must ensure:
- The manuscript is original, not previously published, and not under consideration by another journal.
- The file is in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
- The manuscript has been blinded (all author names, affiliations, and identifying metadata removed for the peer-review process).
- The similarity index is below 20% (checked via Turnitin or similar).
2. Manuscript Structure
Articles should be between 5,000 and 7,000 words (including references and tables). The manuscript should be organized as follows:
- Title: Concise and informative (max 15 words).
- Abstract: A single paragraph of 150–200 words. It must clearly state the research objective, methodology, key findings, and the multidisciplinary implication (how it links social science to arts or teaching).
- Keywords: 3–5 specific terms for indexing.
- Introduction: State the problem, provide the social/educational context, review relevant literature, and state the research goal.
- Methods: Describe the participants (students/community), setting, data collection tools, and analysis techniques.
- Results & Discussion: Present findings clearly. Use the discussion to interpret results through the lens of social science theories or pedagogical frameworks.
- Conclusion: Summarize findings, state limitations, and provide practical recommendations for educators or policymakers.
- References: Minimum 15 sources, 80% from recent peer-reviewed journals (last 5 years).
3. Specific Guidelines for Multidisciplinary Content
To support our focus on Arts and Teaching Practice, we provide specific requirements for these sections:
- Arts Integration: We encourage the use of high-quality images, photographs of artworks, or musical notations. Images must be at least 300 dpi and placed within the text with clear captions (e.g., Figure 1. Student mural project on social justice).
- Teaching Practice (Action Research): Manuscripts focusing on classroom practice should include a clear "Reflection" section, discussing the successes and challenges of the teaching intervention.
- Linguistic/Social Analysis: Data excerpts (interviews, field notes, or code-switching examples) should be clearly indented or italicized.
4. Technical Formatting
- Font: Book Antique, 12pt.
- Spacing: 1.15 or 1.5 line spacing.
- Margins: 1.5 cm on all sides.
- Headings: Use no more than three levels of headings (e.g., 1. Heading, 1.1 Sub-heading, 1.1.1 Sub-sub-heading).
5. Citations and References
Tinombala strictly follows the APA Style (7th Edition).
- In-text Citations: (Author, Year) or (Author, Year, p. 12).
- Reference List Examples:
- Journal: Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Year). Title of article. Journal Name, Vol(Issue), pages. https://doi.org/xx.xxx
- Book: Author, C. C. (Year). Title of the book. Publisher Name.

6. All manuscripts submitted to this journal must be written in clear and academically appropriate English.
7. Ethics and Consent
Authors must state that informed consent was obtained for any research involving human subjects (especially students). If photographs of students are used, authors must ensure they have legal permission or that identities are blurred to protect privacy.
