Journal History
Tinombala: Journal of Social Sciences and Arts Education was founded to provide an interdisciplinary platform for scholars, educators, and practitioners to engage in critical dialogue on social, cultural, and educational issues, particularly those emerging from diverse and developing contexts. The journal takes its name from Mount Tinombala in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, a symbol of intellectual ascent, reflection, and the pursuit of knowledge that serves society.
Established in response to the growing need for inclusive, context-sensitive, and socially grounded scholarship, Tinombala was designed to bridge the worlds of social sciences, the arts, and educational practice. From its inception, the journal has emphasized the integration of theoretical inquiry, cultural expression, and pedagogical innovation, recognizing that meaningful educational transformation requires not only scientific rigor but also creativity, ethical reflection, and local wisdom.
Tinombala seeks to amplify voices from both established and emerging scholars, especially those working in underrepresented regions and interdisciplinary spaces. By fostering dialogue across disciplines and cultural contexts, the journal aims to contribute to the development of socially responsible knowledge, critical pedagogy, and innovative educational practices that respond to contemporary global and local challenges.
